We hear this all the time. At first there may be doubts and questions, then they see how simple it is. That is when we hear “I can do that”.
Here is how it works;
You never have to do it, if it’s not a good month just say “no”. This is just a super convenient way to share food you might have and make a big difference in your community.

This is something else we hear all the time.
Giving food is a direct connection to the people in your community that are struggling. As you select the items you'll find yourself thinking about the nutrition and impact that is going into the bag.
Someone will be using that same food to feed their family in just a few days.

Children are the largest category of people needing your help. They came into this world with the same hopes and dreams we all have, without a proper diet those dreams could turn to low self-esteem and poor health before they ever had a chance.
Families, seniors, and even hard-working people need our help as they struggle to cover all the costs to cover basic needs. Hunger and Food Insecurity impacts people of all ages and of all types.
Your donation will go to Food Banks and Pantries, we let them decide where it goes from there. We just have one policy; "Food should not travel". Your donation will stay in your community, which helps support our goal of 'near zero cost'.
This is important: Most of the food going to hunger relief leads to poor health. Grocery stores donate expiring foods, which at first seems like a great idea. When you realize these expiring foods are mostly high in sugar you will change your mind. Expired bakery items such as cakes, cookies, and muffins along with all that expiring fruit may deliver a lot of calories but that's not helping the way hunger relief organizations might wish you to think.
People relying on food support are two times more likely to develop diabetes and other serious food related health issues. We may be feeding people enough calories, but it is the wrong calories.
More than 80% of the food we provide matches to our needs list stapled to every bag.
Your simple gesture of filling a bag and putting it on your doorstep changes lives.

The most common activity for a donor is to simply leave a bag of shelf-stable panty food on their doorstep every month or two. If always optional, no pressure.
When a donor signs up they are automatically registered to leave a bag of food on their porch. If you prefer to donate a different way, go to your profile and pick from these options;
Many donors will have a 4th option, which is bringing a bag to central location, we call these “Community Circles”. They work great for a business, church, school, club or even a neighborhood.
More information about all these options are provided further down the page.

Register: click this hyperlink, enter your zip code and find the chapter nearest you. It takes less than 2 minutes to register. Your information will be kept private, we don’t share with anyone. You will never get spam.
Look for an email/text: You will get an email and/or text letting you know when the first event is scheduled.
Answer "yes" or "no": Simply respond to that email/text "yes" or "no". If you say yes a driver will be at your door on that event date within a couple hours from the start time.
Fill a bag; If you have one of our bags, you'll find a "Needs List" stapled to the front. Or, just use any bag or box you happen to have.
Put the bag on your porch before the event start time: The drivers will look near your front door. If you have a locked gate, put it in front of the gate. You can go to your "My Site Page" to add notes about your specific situation.
You will get a new bag! Most chapters provide high quality reusable bags, some even identify the fantastic sponsor that funds the program. The bag will have a "Needs List" and your next pickup date on the front.
If needed, update your info on-line: Every email or text we send you has a link that opens your private "My Site Page". From there you can edit your profile, update your status for an event, see your donation history and other useful topics.

As you read through our site you will see us talk about 'leaving a bag of food on your doorstep'. But we have another way that is just as good, we call it a "Community Circle".
A Community Circle is where you bring your bag to some central location. You will receive an email or text a few days before the event as a reminder, and with instructions. You simply reply "Yes" or "no" to let us know if you'll be participating.
These work great for a school, church, private business, public retail store, gated community, senior center or apartment building.

If you still have problems, write to Info@SiimpleGesture.org.
Each chapter has a primary contact. You can get this email, and often a cell number, by going to your "My Site Page". Go to Question #1 for more information to get to your page. Once there, look at the top (green bar section) to see your chapter admin information.
You can also talk to your Event Manager, this is the person that runs the event coming up. Click on your EVENTS page to get that information. Its toward the bottom of the EVENTS page.
You can also write to us @ info@SimpleGesture.org. Be sure to tell us what city you live in.
We have a unique program. Our “inventory” is free and our “logistics network” is free. Our cost is what it takes to connect donors, drivers and pantries into a smooth work-flow. Your donation helps us convert a few dollars into a 'near zero cost' solution to ending hunger and food insecurity. CLICK THIS LINK TO DONATE TO ASG! Thank you very very much!!
Most chapters offer 3 alternatives; donate money, shop on-line or deliver the bag to the pantry yourself.
To change your donation type, log into your "My Site Page" and then select "Profile". Go to the 1st question at the top to see how to log into your private page.
We accept any bag or box that can be carried safely. When we pick up your food donation we will leave behind a reusable bag for next time. (Note; not all chapters use bags, and every chapter is going to run out every once in awhile).
If you don’t have a reusable bag, use any bag or box this time.
If you wish to leave multiple bags it’s great! Contact your Chapter Admin or Event Manager (look for 'how to contact' in the FAQ's), and let them know you want 2 or more bags each time.
This is a great question and shows you really care!
Use any email we send you to click GO TO MY PAGE, and then click on EVENTS to see your upcoming events. Just below that is a “needs list” for your local pantry. (Or, go to the 1st question to get Log In help to get to your events page).
All pantries will say the #1 thing they need are proteins, these are in the shortest supply. Canned meats or any other high protein shelf-stable foods (canned or dried beans, peanut butter, nuts, etc) help the most.
The next best things are what we call “center of plate” foods; vegetables, pasta, rice, and other foods that create a balanced healthy meal.
Cereals, breakfast bars and boxed foods that are low in sugar are fantastic.
Condiments, spices, and other pantry foods are good.
Some chapters will even ask for household items, such as cleaning supplies or diapers.
If you’d like to take a time-out from event notifications, it’s easy. Use the Log In question at the top of the list. From the "My Site Page" click on “PROFILE” on your site page. Scroll down to “OUT UNTIL” and select the date you want to restart your notifications.
We are sorry to see you go! If you’re moving, email us to see if we can “move” your account to another chapter. Info@SimpleGesture.org.
If you need to end your donation status completely, here are the steps.
1. Go to your "My Site Page" (see log in instructions under the first question at the top).
2. Click “MANAGE PROFILE”. Scroll down to the DONOR section. Click the button to change your donor status, and select the option to no longer be a donor of any type.
3. Be sure to click “Save”
If you are a driver, and you wish to discontinue that, you’ll see a “DRIVER” status button just below.
If you wouldn’t mind, we’d like to know why you decided to opt out. Please send us an email at Info@SimpleGesture.org.
THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR PROGRAM!!
Ask your Chapter Admin to set up a “Community Circle”. You can find out how to reach your chapter admin by looking at the FAQ above.
This method works great for a school, business, health club, or any other group may just want to have donors bring the bags to a central place.
Your donors register using a special QR code or URL link you send them. They get notifications to bring their bag to the place you designate, during the date/time window you designate. It works great!
Log in to your Site Page (see Question #1) and you’ll see how to contact your Site Admin, it’s at the top/middle of each page.
Ask your Chapter Admin to set up a “Neighborhood Coordinator” for you. You can find out how to reach your chapter admin by looking at the FAQ above.
This works great for a neighborhood where one person (or several) go around and pick up those bags.
You contact your neighbors with a special QR code or clickable URL link, asking them to register for your ‘Pick Up Community Campaign”. They will get an email or text a few days before the pick up date, reminding them to leave a bag out front.
You decide the pick up date and time.
You then go around, pick up the bags and take them to the pantry or Food Bank you choose.
