“A Simple Gesture” is a near zero-cost program. A One-Dollar donation converts to more than $30 of food going to Food Banks and Pantries.

We make it easier for large-scale recurring food drivers to happen.
We provide a system that does nearly everything to plan, organize and run these events. And we provide the methodology to make it easier to have a thriving program.
Hunger and Food Insecurity are growing problems. We need innovative solutions to make a big impact, and we need them now.
The answer is about as simple as it gets; its us. Neighbors helping neighbors has been around for centuries. Nearly all of us have extra food we can share, and nearly all of us want to help. But how? In today's busy it's not so simple to share that extra food. That's where we come in. We believe if we can make it simple, that people will rise up and help out those that aren't as fortunate.
Now it is as easy as 1-2-3;
When it's just a handful of neighbors all you need is a group email and excel spreadsheet. The great new is this idea can get really big! Greensboro, North Carolina, has more than 4000 donors. It can take 40+ hours to plan just one event, as they recur monthly its overwhelming. We've designed a system that takes less about one hour to do everything needed to plan and organize the pick-up event.
Our mission is simple; make it easy to be a donor or driver, and even make it easy to run a huge chapter collecting 50,000 pounds of food a month. If we can make it easy this program will spread nationwide, getting us closer to ending hunger and food insecurity right here where we live.
We started in October, 2025 and have already completed over 100 of Chapter Events. Write us at Info@SimpleGesture.org to start a chapter, donate money, or to become a food donor.

Food insecurity has become a numbers exercise. Most organizations measure success by the pounds delivered. Although this is a good start it can also be misleading. Most States have rules that fine food companies that dispose food to lower methane gas release as the foods decompose in landfills. That is the majority of pounds being measured by hunger-relief organizations.
We are swapping one problem for another bigger one; people on food relief support are two times more likely to develop serious food related illness, such as diabetes. One reason, the majority of food being provided is high in sugar. And the reason for that is that expiring bakery items such as donuts, cookies, and cakes are along with expiring high sugar fruits are the #1 item going into Food Banks and Pantries across the country.
We need to provide better food. One in three single family moms rely on Food Banks and Pantries, they need nutritious foods not high-sugar foods. A Childs self esteem is greatly effected by obesity, yet they really had very little choice in the matter.
SimpleGesture.org directly impacts this problem because we provide a "Needs List" to every donor with targeted foods. Over 90% of the foods we provide are healthy! We don't just bring in pounds, we bring in nutrition.

Many of you donate money to food pantries, they in turn use those dollars to buy food. They are good at it, and convert $100 into around $260 of food.
The problem is, once that food is consumed it’s gone and another $100 is needed.
What if we could build a food machine that keeps on providing food?
That is SimpleGesture.org. And as a result, we can turn that same $100 into about $3800 of food!
This sounds impossible, but it's true and easy to explain. Our approach is to make it easy for households to provide targeted high nutrition food at no cost. The food and the logistics are all donated by others. The only cost is to run the system and find more donors.
The average donor stays active about 5 years, donates around 70% of the time, provides about 14 pounds per donation, and the average value of that food is around $2.20 a pound. When you add all that up you can see that just one donor results in about $700 of food. Your donations help us find these donors, buy the reusable bags, run the systems, and do everything else needed.
If you'd like to donate, we can promise your money will make a big difference. Click here to donate!!

Our ASG Web App handles two ways to engage donors; picking up food or bringing food to a community center.
PICK UP EVENTS: We start off with donors and drivers not needing to know each other. As they register our software determines optimized routes for each driver. Once things get going we know those same drivers want to pick up from the same donors. This happens because people want to form a community around helping others. Over time we convert those drivers into "Neighborhood Coordinators" that then take care of the area near their home.
BRINGING FOOD IN: We also know a school, church, business or club also wants to create a "Community Circle". This is where our software reminds people to being their donation in on a day and location specified by that group.

When you first register for SimpleGesture.org you likely will have a driver pick up your food. We use a 'least mile route optimization' system to divide all the donors up among the volunteer drivers. This means your driver is probably going to be different every time.
Once we get enough donors in your area we will switch you to a "Neighborhood Pod". Your 'pod' will then be managed by a Neighborhood Coordinator. This means your donation will be picked up by your neighbor! It will be the same person each time.
Once we form a Neighborhood Pod things really take off fast. That Neighborhood Coordinator is going to be talking to more and more of your neighbors to join in. We also hope you'll jump in and spread the word. We want to get you to talk about this at your neighborhood parties, as you walk your dog, or when you're just saying hi in your front yard.

Making things simple can be complicated. One way to do it is to”least mile routing“ for the drivers picking up the food donations. We use the same technology as UPS, FedEx and other world-class fleet programs.

Every Donor is asked before every event if they can participate. A quick click of a button confirms they will have a bag out, or if we need to skip them this time around.

About one in 6 donors agree to drive during the registration process. A day before the event they receive their routes. Each route has a button for ‘turn by turn“ directions. The Event Manager can monitor progress across all drivers real-time and make adjustments if needed.

Signing up donors is everything. Chapters create “sign-up campaigns”. We provide a Site Page dedicated to each one. These are customized to reflect the ‘grass roots local information” donors want to see. QR codes and URL links provide quick tools for donors to access the Campaign Pages.

The ASG Web App tracks data to help make better decisions. Event Managers can see which Campaigns were most effective, which donors leave out bags and which often forget. And we provide tools to fix these problems as they arise.

Donors, Drivers, and Chapter Administrators get “Quick-Start Guides” along with more detailed guides to cover everything. We even use AI tools to answer any questions.
